Well we’re 2 years old this week, and my how that time has flown. Happy Birthday to us! With baited breath we opened the doors of our very first Wood Burning Stove shop on Burton Road Didsbury in Manchester. This one little strip of road is a hive of independent businesses that support and champion each other. The people of Manchester flocked to the shop and we continue to be overwhelmed by their loyalty.
We say it often and we’ll keep saying it but thank you for your support.
Onwards a year to 2013 and we were eager to bring our contemporary concept and beautiful showroom of wood burning stoves to Cheshire too. We found the ideal location in Stockton Heath, which is ideally situated just a few miles from Warrington and services all of Cheshire with great motorway links.
Stockton Heath is a location that has successfully held onto its ye olde worlde charm whilst attracting fashionable shops and restaurants. The London Bridge Inn serves some fantastic food and perfectly situated on the canal, for a relaxing drink watching the narrow boats go by.
Deemed a hamlet of little consequence when it first featured as Stoken in a 1739 map of Cheshire, it is now a thriving place to live work and play.
The Red Lion Inn dates back to the early 19th century and the Mulberry Tree on Victoria Square opened in its present building (replacing earlier premises dating from 1725) in March 1907.
The name itself is a compound of two Old English elements – stoc and tun, meaning the tun belonging to a cattle or dairy farm and the villages past is also linked to the Romans.
As well as good shopping, there are other reasons to visit Stockton Heath such as the annual festival, which gets underway from July 3rd to the 6th. Based on Mill Lane Field and in venues around Grappenhall, Appleton and Stockton Heath the line-up for this year is already looking good. Sit along the Marina and watch the world go by.
To end a perfect visit to Stockton Heath it would a crime to not visit one of the many contemporary eateries ranging from Spanish to Turkish, and cute little eateries to grab yourself an early morning Danish pastry.
Sit with the locals of an evening over a roaring fire, and a good pint.
Where is Stockton Heath? It is located in the civil parish of Warrington to the north of the Bridgewater Canal and to the south of the Manchester Ship canal which divides Stockton Heath from Latchford and north Warrington.
We sell our beautiful wood burning stoves from our lovely little showroom ran by Dave. Pop in and have a chat with Dave anytime. We offer a fully trained HETAS installation service too, headed up by Mark and a team of outstanding Wood Burning Stove Installers. They’ve got a great reputation, and are a nice bunch to have around the home for the day.
We have a fab team at The Stove Room, and we’re so pleased that we are surrounded by other great businesses in Manchester and Cheshire too. When it comes to Wood Burning Stoves, we know our stuff, but we know other people who know there’s too. Pop in and have a chat, we’ll put the fire on and tell you all you need to know.
